Swagbucks Guide 2026: Is It Worth It & How to Earn Money

Last reviewed: October 24, 2026
Let’s go over whether Swagbucks is worth it and how to earn money with Swagbucks.
Swagbucks is a get-paid-to (GPT) site with plenty of ways to earn money online, including surveys, games, cashback, and trivia questions. Started in California in 2008, the platform is a very popular online side hustle. Swagbucks pays you in points called SB, where 100 SB is equal to $1 USD.
Yes, Swagbucks is legit and only worth trying if you live in a specific country and have extra time experimenting with the many different tasks available.
Read on below to learn more about how to earn money with Swagbucks as a beginner.
🔎 Researched, Not Tested: I have not personally used this platform. Instead, I’ve researched its website, recent user reviews, and other sources to provide you with the most accurate information possible. Your experience with this site may be different.

Pros & Cons of Swagbucks
Pros ✅
- Legit earning site based in California
- A variety of tasks to choose from
- Teens as young as 13 can join
- Small consolation pay if you get disqualified
Cons ❌
- Not accessible worldwide
- Some features only available in the US
- Bonuses pay little compared to surveys
- Verification may be required before cash out
Is Swagbucks Legit and Worth It?
Yes, Swagbucks is legit. They have been a popular rewards site for almost 20 years, which is almost impossible for an online scam. Further, the site is owned by Prodege, an American market research company with plenty of awards and real human employees.
Swagbucks might be worth it if you like having a variety of tasks available, including surveys, shopping tasks, a bingo card, daily polls, and trivia questions.
On the other hand, Swagbucks may not work for you if you don’t live in any of these countries or if you’re looking to make a full-time income online. Swagbucks is also not a good pick if you’d rather not show your ID, as that is required during cash out.

Swagbucks Alternatives
Here are a few survey and GPT platforms similar to Swagbucks that pay you extra money online:
- ySense: This is Swagbucks’ sister site, available worldwide.
- AttaPoll: A simple GPT platform offering country-specific payout options.
- Prime Opinion: Offers a low minimum cashout, so you can possibly withdraw sooner.

How Much Can You Earn with Swagbucks?
To answer this question, I looked at three snapshots of Swagbucks survey pages from 2025-2026.
Swagbucks surveys in these snapshots showed earnings between 1 and 1,000 SB ($0.01 to $10) if completed. Most of those surveys showed no more than 300 SB.
But how much you actually make depends on many factors, including your country, your profile information, and how long it takes to complete the survey. The only way to know for sure how much you will earn is to sign up and check the surveys and offers available.
Signing Up with Swagbucks
To use Swagbucks, you must be at least 13 and located in one of these 11 countries. You must also disable any VPNs or proxies, as these violate Swagbucks’ Terms of Use.
Signing up with Swagbucks is pretty straightforward. You can connect your Google or Apple account, or enter your email and create a password.
After signing up, verify your email by clicking the link sent to your inbox. You will earn 5 SB for verifying your email. Phone verification may also be required before you can receive SB.
You also get a 1,000 SB ($10) sign-up bonus. However, you need to spend $25 at a qualifying retailer in the Swagbucks Shop within 30 days in order to claim the bonus.
Pro Tip: If you’re cashing out via PayPal, make sure you are signing up with the same email address linked to your PayPal account.

Ways to Earn Money with Swagbucks
Here are the different ways to earn SB on Swagbucks. I suggest focusing on surveys and app installs as these tend to be the higher-paying tasks on the platform.
Profile Questions
To unlock surveys, you will need to complete a quick profile survey so Swagbucks can find you relevant surveys. This survey may ask about your household size, occupation, income range, birthday, etc. You will earn 5 SB ($0.05) for completing the profile survey.
Take Surveys
One way to earn SB is by answering questions through surveys. If you’re lucky, you may get a few product testing surveys. One user shared that they completed 4 product tests with Swagbucks.
Each survey shows you an estimate of how much SB you might make for completing it. You may also see a star rating, indicating how satisfied other users were with that survey. At the end of the survey, you may be asked to rate it to help influence the star rating for other users. A good rule of thumb is to complete the highest-star survey shown on the list.
If you get disqualified (or screened out) from a survey, you may earn a few SB as consolation pay. Several users report getting between 1 and 5 SB ($0.01-$0.05) during a screenout.
Remember: how many surveys you get and whether you get screened out depend on your profile and where you live. Try taking surveys for an hour. If by then you still haven’t completed a single survey, give yourself a break and try a different task instead.
Pro Tip: Answer every question honestly. Giving false information can lead to your account getting suspended, according to Swagbucks’ Terms of Use.
Install Apps
You can earn SB by installing apps, like mobile games, and reaching milestones. If you’re on desktop, I suggest using the Swagbucks mobile app so you don’t have to send a link to your phone.
Pick an app you’re interested in and review the milestones before installing. You will see how much SB you are expected to earn for each milestone. Keep in mind that many of these app offers require up to a month of playtime, and some milestones may require an in-app purchase.
As with surveys, how many app offers you get will depend on your mobile device type and location. If you don’t see any offers available, try another task while you wait.
Pro Tip: As soon as you reach your first milestone, wait a few days, and then look at your Activity Ledger. If you don’t see the app listed, that means the app isn’t being tracked, and you likely won’t earn SB. In that case, stop using the app and try a different app instead.
Claim Offers
You can earn SB by claiming an offer available on Swagbucks’ Discover page. These offers have you complete tasks, like creating an account, playing a PC game, or buying a subscription. The types of offers and how much SB you make will again depend on your device and location. Remember to review the offer carefully before claiming it, and only claim an offer if you’re genuinely interested.
Daily Poll
Swagbucks pays you 1 SB ($0.01) for answering today’s Daily Poll question and seeing answers from other members. A question may be something like “Are you a cat person, a dog person, or both?” You can answer previous Daily Poll questions, but you won’t get paid for those.
According to a Reddit thread, the Daily Poll is no longer visible on the Swagbucks website. Instead, you can find it in your To-Do List or at swagbucks.com/polls.
Search and Wins
You get a chance to earn SB by searching the web with Swagbucks. Simply search for keywords like you would on Google. You earn SB at random, so not every search pays you. Swagbucks says you can earn anywhere between 1 and 1,000 SB ($0.01-$10).
Winning SB via searching seems to be difficult, as in September 2026, Swagbucks announced one week of “making Search a little easier” for users in the US, UK, Canada, and Australia.

Daily Trivia
The Swagbucks Daily Trivia app (separate from the main Swagbucks mobile app) offers two activities: the Daily Trivia Challenge and Daily Trivia Live.
During a Daily Trivia Challenge, you will be asked 10 questions, with 3 multiple-choice answers to choose from. You will earn 0-10 SB ($0-$0.10) once a day based on how many you got correct. You’ll need to be quick, as you only get 10 seconds to answer each question.
Daily Trivia Live is a real-time event that takes place Monday through Thursday. Again, you will be asked 10 questions, each with 3 multiple-choice answers and a 10-second time limit. Some, but not all, questions will earn you SB. If you answer all 10 questions, you win a share of a big cash prize. You can find trivia hints on Swagbucks’ social media pages to help you before the show begins.
Magic Receipts
You earn 1-5 SB ($0.01-$0.05) for uploading “Magic Receipts,” Swagbucks’ name for any receipts you receive. You can only upload up to 10 receipts per week. Swagbucks recommends uploading receipts on your phone using their mobile app.
Basically, you find a Magic Receipts offer on Swagbucks that you want to redeem in-store. Once you get home, you upload the paper receipt that proves you used the offer. Swagbucks does not accept receipts from online purchases.
While Magic Receipts are a good way to get extra SB for your daily shopping, a few users point out that the Magic Receipts upload page can be glitchy. Also, as one user points out, it’s possible to not get any Magic Receipt offers at all, making Magic Receipts possibly unreliable for consistent SB.
Shop and Earn
You can earn SB as cashback for shopping online at a participating website in the Swagbucks Shop. Exactly how much you earn depends on the offer.
However, Shop and Earn offers don’t always credit. One user reported they did not receive credit for two purchases in the last week. Another user made a similar complaint, saying their few CVS purchases were not being tracked. As with Magic Receipts, Shop and Earn may not be a reliable way to earn SB.
Referral Program
Swagbucks has a referral program, allowing you to share Swagbucks with others.
- You earn 300 SB if a referral earns 300 SB from qualifying activities within 30 days of signing up (although Swagbucks says not all countries qualify for this, so you may or may not earn this).
- You earn 10% of a referral’s earnings from qualifying activities for life.
Qualifying activities include surveys, mobile game installs, Magic Receipts, offers on the Discover page, and the Daily Poll. SB that a referral earns from signing up, referral activity, and Swag Codes do not qualify.
Bonuses on Swagbucks
In addition to the main tasks, Swagbucks offers multiple ways to earn bonus SB. However, the amount of bonus SB is relatively small compared to the tasks. I suggest treating these bonuses as supplementary and focusing on the above tasks instead to avoid potentially wasting time.
Swag Codes
Keep an eye out for a Swag Code alert on Swagbucks’ Facebook page. You click the link on the post, which will generate a unique Swag Code that you cannot share with others. Once an alert is posted, you typically have a few hours to claim your code for 3 SB ($0.03).

To-Do List & Daily Goal
The To-Do List is Swagbucks’ daily checklist. This list gives you 9 tasks that have to do with the ways to earn SB that I introduced earlier. Your Daily Goal is to complete at least 7 of these tasks.
You earn 1-3 SB for meeting the Daily Goal, or 8-10 SB for completing all 9 tasks. You also get monthly bonus SB that you can claim on the 6th of every month. How much SB you get per month depends on how many times you met the Daily Goal.
According to Swagbucks, there are two variations of the To-Do List. You will see one of these two variations depending on the day of the week.
One Redditor shared what the list looked like as of September 2025.
SwagUps
SwagUps offer certain bonuses after completing a certain activity. There are two types of SwagUps: Award SwagUps and Rebate SwagUps. Each SwagUp is time-limited, so you must redeem it before its expiration date and time to get bonus SB out of it.
- An Award SwagUp gives you bonus SB after completing a survey or shopping online. These SwagUps are usually given randomly.
- A Rebate SwagUp is essentially a gift card discount. With this SwagUp, you get a certain amount of SB back after redeeming your SB for a gift card. You can get Rebate SwagUps from Team Challenges (and Tournaments if you’re in the US).
Team Challenges
Team Challenges are available during special events. During a challenge, you will be automatically assigned to one of four teams. Each qualifying task you do earns points for your team. At the end of the challenge, each team will get a Rebate SwagUp, and the team with the most points gets the highest-value discount.
Based on a Team Challenge from July 2026, you must contribute at least 500 points to your team to receive the SwagUp.
Collector’s Bills (US only)
Collector’s Bills give you bonus SB during special events. The bills have a different theme depending on the event. For example, during the Pack Your Bags event in August 2026, the bills featured tourist attractions like the Eiffel Tower and the Taj Mahal.
Simply complete the required task in order to receive a Collector’s Bill. Each bill gives you bonus SB, and completing the set gives you Completion Bonus SB.
Swago (US only)
Swago is a bingo-style game where you form patterns by completing the tasks shown on your card. The game resets every Monday, and you’ll need to submit each pattern you got before the week ends in order to claim your bonus SB. Keep in mind that some of the tasks shown are cashback offers, so don’t feel pressured to buy anything you don’t really need just for Swago.
Swagbucks recommends planning your Swago tasks in advance. However, a few users said they were not credited for cashback offers and suggest not filling the entire Swago board.
Based on the screenshot below, you can earn between 5 and 100 SB a week from Swago.

Tournaments (US only)
A Tournament is essentially a leaderboard for those installing apps/mobile games via Swagbucks. After joining a tournament, you will be one of 50 users competing for a Rebate SwagUp. The more SB you earn from app milestones during the tournament, the higher you climb on the leaderboard. If you make it to the top 15, you will receive the Rebate SwagUp in your account.
A few users say they were not credited for their app installs during a recent tournament. If you decide to join a tournament, keep checking your Activity Ledger before reaching milestones.
Member Recognition Program (US, UK, Canada, Australia only)
The Member Recognition Program consists of 10 tiers of membership based on your lifetime SB earnings. According to Swagbucks, reaching a new tier gives you a SwagUp, more time to redeem your Swag Code, and more depending on the tier. However, Swagbucks also says the exact benefits can change without notice.
The Swag Button
Swagbucks has a browser extension called the “SwagButton” available for Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Safari users. The extension alerts you if you are on a website where you can earn cashback through Swagbucks. You can also get coupons and promo codes to use on qualifying websites.
As far as I could tell, you don’t earn SB for installing or using the SwagButton. However, it can be used to help you spend your first $25 via Swagbucks and claim your 1,000 SB bonus.

Getting Paid with Swagbucks
Cashing Out
Swagbucks lets you redeem your SB for PayPal, Payoneer, and a variety of gift cards, including Amazon. You can also donate your SB to a charity of your choice.
Based on this tutorial video from May 2026, the minimum for cashing out is:
- PayPal: 530 SB ($5.30)
- Gift card: 500 SB ($5.00)
Some gift cards may also require more SB if they don’t offer $5 cards.
According to Swagbucks, it can take up to 5 business days to receive your reward. Before sending your cashout, Swagbucks may check your account for signs of fraud and may also require KYC (ID verification), as indicated in Prodege’s Terms of Use.
Pro Tip: Cash out as soon as you reach the minimum to avoid losing too much in case your cashout fails or your account gets suspended.
Does Swagbucks Actually Pay?
Digital Bazaari’s review includes a screenshot of PayPal payment proof from Swagbucks.
For most users who use Swagbucks legitimately, cashouts on Swagbucks are successful. However, two users reported having their accounts suspended after attempting a $25 cashout. One tried to redeem PayPal in British pounds. The other user, from the US, said they tried redeeming a gift card. Both of them contacted Swagbucks support and were told to submit their IDs for verification.
