ySense Guide: How It Works & How to Earn Money

In this guide, you’ll learn about ySense and how to earn money by taking ySense surveys.
ySense is a survey and GPT (Get Paid To) site owned by the US market researcher Prodege, which also owns Swagbucks. It began as ClixSense in February 2007. After it was acquired by Prodege in August 2019, its name was changed to ySense.
ySense’s interface is simple and minimalist, offering just surveys, a small number of offers, and mobile games. It’s definitely a cleaner alternative to Swagbucks.
But is ySense a good survey site to make money? Find out in this complete guide.

Signing up for ySense
You must be at least 16 (or at least 13 if you’re in the US) to join ySense. To sign up, visit the ySense homepage and fill out the form.
Here’s what ySense collects when you sign up:
- Your email address
- Your first and last name
- The username and password you created
💡Tip: ySense may require ID verification when you cash out your earnings. For this reason, I suggest entering your real first and last name, not a fake one.
Taking surveys on ySense
In the Surveys tab, you’ll see all the available surveys. These surveys come from providers like PureSpectrum, Samplicio, CPX Research, and Pollfish.
Are there plenty of surveys?
There’s a chance ySense may offer you plenty of surveys.
When I used ySense back in 2019, I’d get plenty of surveys, as you can see in the screenshot below. After about an hour, I’d look at the Surveys page again and see new available surveys that weren’t there the last time I checked.
Today, I haven’t found a single reviewer complaining about a lack of surveys, but this doesn’t necessarily mean that nothing has changed. Whether you get plenty of surveys depends on your profile. Make sure to complete your profiler questions to increase your chances of surveys.
Are screenouts common?
Unfortunately, screenouts are very common on ySense. No consolation pay.
If you get screened out, you will see this small warning message at the top: “Not every survey is a winner, but keep trying.” ySense does not pay you anything for a screenout.
Back in 2019, the majority of surveys I tried on ySense screened me out. Even today, several users are reporting that ySense still tends to disqualify you. One user commented that the constant screenouts made ySense feel like “a total scam” and “a complete waste of time.”
Do ySense surveys pay?
Some ySense surveys pay far less than the price shown onscreen.
Personally, I didn’t encounter major problems getting paid by ySense surveys. However, plenty of users have recently reported that many surveys pay you less than advertised. For example, one user in India received $0.40 when they should’ve earned $0.79.
Other ways to earn on ySense
Besides surveys, ySense also pays you to do the following tasks:
- Paid offers: Sign up for a service featured in the Offers tab.
- Mobile games: Try new mobile games in the Play tab and get paid to reach milestones. If you’re on desktop, you’ll be asked to scan a QR code or send a download link to your device.
- Your Survey Profile: Earn $0.02 for answering 10 profiler questions in the Surveys tab.
- Daily Poll: Earn $0.01 for answering the daily poll in the Surveys tab.
Note that some mobile game tasks may fail to pay you. For instance, one user from the UK said they never received credit for the milestones they reached on five different mobile games.
ySense referral program
In the Affiliates tab, ySense gives you a referral link to share the platform with others. Here’s how much commission you can earn:
- $0.10 when a referral signs up using your link (or $0.30, see below)
- $2.00 when they earn their first $5.00 (excluding commissions and bonuses)
- 20% for every survey, offer, or task they complete (25% if you have 100+ referrals or 30% if you have 200+ referrals)
If your referral signs up in one of these countries, you earn $0.30 instead of $0.10:

ySense Daily Checklist bonus
ySense offers you a bonus payment via the Daily Checklist, which encourages you to complete 2 surveys (or 2 offers) daily. The Daily Checklist icon is located in the top-right corner.
If you complete the checklist on a given day, a 6% bonus will be applied to your balance at the end of the day. After completing the daily checklist at least three times in a row, the bonus becomes 8%. If you miss a day, your streak resets and you start over at 6%.

Other ySense features
Forum
In the ySense forum, members can discuss and ask questions. It looks a bit dated, and only a few members are still actively using it. Here, you’ll find payment proofs, FAQs, and discussions in other languages.
Browser extension
ySense offers a browser extension available for Chrome, Firefox, and Edge desktop browsers.
With the extension, you can track your balance and check for new surveys and tasks. It will also send a push notification when a new survey becomes available. Open the extension and click a survey notification to start a survey.
Mobile app
ySense offers a mobile app for both Android and iOS devices. It has the same surveys and features that are available on their website.
Getting paid on ySense
The Cashout tab allows you to see your payout options and begin cashing out.
Payout methods
ySense pays out via PayPal or a gift card of your choice.
In some countries, ySense also offers Payoneer, Skrill, and Airtm. However, several users (like this one in Türkiye) have reported that ySense removed Payoneer and Skrill as payout options.
Cashout requirements
The minimum cashout is $5, though it may be slightly higher if needed to cover payment processing fees. For PayPal, the minimum is $5.80.
According to ySense, new users may have to wait up to 15 business days before receiving their first payment. After that, payments will be sent within 10 business days.

Are cashouts successful?
Yes. Just do your best to pass their ID and fraud checks.

Note that several users reported their accounts were suspended after trying to cash out. ySense has said that this can be caused by attempting to defraud the website.
However, one user whose account got suspended said that they “always tried to follow the platform’s rules and requirements” and even took the time to pass ID verification. So, it’s possible that ySense’s anti-fraud system can be somewhat strict.
💡Tip: The first time you cash out, do it as soon as you reach $5. That way, you lose less money in the event your account is suspended for fraud.
Tips to make money with ySense
Follow these tips to make the most money out of ySense:
- Be honest when taking surveys. This will make ID verification easier and help you receive your payments.
- Spend at least a few hours doing surveys. After several screenouts, you’ll eventually complete 2 surveys for the Daily Checklist.
- Come back every day. Each day you complete the checklist, you continue getting bonus pay.
- Use the browser extension. This can help remind you about available ySense surveys.
